What is an investor password in MT4/MT5?

An Investor Password is a special type of password used in the MetaTrader 4 (MT4) and MetaTrader 5 (MT5) platforms that allows read-only access to your trading account. 

How can I set an Investor Password in MT4/MT5?

For MT4/MT5 on the Desktop:

There are two ways to change your Investor Password in MT4/MT5 on Desktop version:  

  1. Using the Navigator Menu 
    • Open MetaTrader: Install your MT4 or MT5 terminal application 
    • Access the Navigator: Go to the top menu and click on View > Navigator or press Ctrl+N. 
    • Locate Your Account: In the Navigator window, find your account under the “Accounts” section.  
    • Change the Investor Password: Right-click on your account and select Change Password. You will need to enter your current Master Password, select Change investor (read-only) password, and enter the new Investor Password you want to set.  
    • Confirm the New Password: Enter the new Investor Password again to confirm it. Click “OK” to save the changes.  

  1. Using the Tools Menu 
    • Open MetaTrader: Install your MT4 or MT5 terminal application: 
    • Open the Account Settings: Go to the “Tools” menu at the top and select “Options”  
    • Navigate to the Server Tab: In the “Options” window, click on the Server (remove “”) tab.  
    • Change the Investor Password:  Click the Change (remove “”) button next to the “Password” field. Enter your current account password, select Change investor (read-only) password, and enter the new Investor Password.  
    • Confirm the New Password: Enter the new Investor Password again to confirm it. Click “OK” to save the changes.  

For MT4/MT5 on Mobile:

  1. For iOS (Apple) Devices: 
    • Open MetaTrader: Launch the MT4 or MT5 app on your iOS device. 
    • Access Account Settings: Tap on the Settings menu at the top of the screen. Then select Manage Accounts. Tap this account to view the list of trading accounts that have access to your MT4/MT5 app. Select the account you want to manage.  
    • Change the Investor Password: In the Account Settings, select “Change Investor Password”, you would need to enter your current Master Password, followed by the new Investor Password you want to set. Tap Change to apply the new password.  

  1. For Android Devices: 
    • Open MetaTrader: Launch the MT4 or MT5 app on your Android device. 
    • Access Account Settings: Tap the Menu icon (three horizontal lines) in the upper left corner of the screen. 
    • Navigate to Account Management: Select Manage Accounts from the menu.  
    • Change the Investor Password: In the account settings, tap the three dots in the upper-right corner and select “Change Investor Password”, You will need to enter your current Master Password, followed by the new Investor Password you want to set. Tab Change to apply the new password.

Which server should I use for my MT4/MT5 terminal?

To ensure you can open your account correctly, please use the appropriate server details based on your platform and website:  

MT4: TradeQuoMarket-Server 
MT5: TradeQuoGlobal-Server 

**Note: Always choose a strong unique password for high security level of your trading account.
